Park the bike, NOW. Go to the nearest bike shop and get a cable lubricator kit, they are fairly inexpensive. A decent kit will have directions in it, but if it doesn't, the main point is to inject a machine oil/grease blend into the cable sleeve until it comes out the far end. Wipe off all excess.
Your cable is either sticking or is stretched. Mine did it brand new, it's not uncommon for them to be loose, but it is extremely dangerous. I've survived two full throttle HD layovers due to faulty cables, and I can assure you that 6 weeks in a wheel chair because I didn't lube/adjust the cable is no fun.
